At the AI-Mediated Foundation our research goes further.
We investigate the organisational, human, economic and societal implications of a world in which human and artificial intelligence increasingly work together.
Our purpose is to develop independent, evidence-led insights, practical frameworks and new ways of understanding how organisations and society can benefit from this transformation.
Our 2026–2027 research agenda is organised around three interconnected programmes, bringing together seven research themes. Each programme examines a different dimension of AI-mediated transformation, while contributing to a shared understanding of how intelligence is changing organisations, work and society.
Artificial intelligence is introducing new forms of intelligence into organisations, changing how decisions are made, work is performed, capabilities are developed and economic value is created. Yet much of the discussion continues to focus on technology adoption, automation and productivity improvements.
Redesigning organisations for a world of human and artificial intelligence.
How should organisations be designed, governed and led when intelligence, decision-making and productive work are no longer exclusively human?
This programme investigates the transition from traditional organisational structures towards AI-mediated operating models.
Research priorities include:
Our research examines not only how AI enters organisations, but how its introduction changes the underlying architecture through which work, decisions and value are organised.
Understanding the changing relationship between people, work and intelligent systems.
As AI becomes increasingly capable of performing cognitive and operational tasks, the nature of human contribution is changing.
This programme explores what remains distinctively human, how judgement and capability develop, and how organisations can design work that combines human and artificial intelligence responsibly.
Research priorities include:
A central question is whether AI is expanding human capability and opportunity or creating new dependencies, inequalities and barriers to participation.
Moving beyond hours saved to understand the real economic value of AI.
AI promises significant productivity improvements, but productivity gains do not automatically translate into greater organisational capacity, economic prosperity or improved outcomes for workers.
This programme investigates how AI creates, distributes and captures value across organisations and society.
Research priorities include:
Our research distinguishes between efficiency improvements, genuine increases in productive capacity and the economic benefits ultimately realised by organisations, workers and society.
The central question is:
When AI makes work more productive, who benefits, how is that value measured, and what happens to the capacity created?
AIM connects emerging research with the practical challenges facing organisations, leaders, workers and policymakers.
Our approach brings together four complementary activities:
1. Research Programmes
Longer-term investigations into the structural implications of AI-mediated transformation.
2. Evidence & Insights
Research reports, data analysis, literature reviews, emerging signals and evidence-based commentary.
3. Collaboration
Engagement with researchers, universities, practitioners, professional bodies and interdisciplinary networks.
4. Real-World Impact
Translating research into practical frameworks, organisational understanding, better decision-making and improved human and economic outcomes.
Our research is intended to inform debate, challenge assumptions and contribute to more responsible and effective organisational transformation.

Join the AIM Research Community to access exclusive research, reports, and invitations for participation in upcoming studies focused on AI-Mediated Foundation research. Together, we are contributing to the evidence base for AI-mediated transformation, which is crucial for the next generation of AI-mediated organisations. Our goal is to facilitate the development of an AI-Centric HR Operating Model and drive organizational governance AI within the PXB Ecosystem. Be part of this journey with Tess Hilson-Greener and others as we innovate for the future.
