The HR2035 Foundation investigates the evolution of the future of work, organisations, and society over the next decade.
Rather than trying to predict what will come, we work backwards from plausible 2035 scenarios to identify the necessary capabilities, operating models, leadership approaches, and governance that organisations must begin implementing today.
Our mission is to empower leaders to make informed long-term decisions during a time when artificial intelligence, demographic shifts, economic volatility, and technological disruption are transforming every organisation.
Why HR2035?
Most organisations typically plan three to five years ahead, but we believe that this timeframe is insufficient. The rapid advancement in AI and other technologies means that the choices made today will significantly impact whether organisations are ready for the workplace of 2035.
By reversing the lens from the future, organisations can:
- Grasp how AI-mediated organisations are transforming work dynamics.
- Anticipate future capability needs.
- Redesign operating models proactively before they become outdated.
- Equip leaders for innovative forms of human and AI collaboration.
- Foster organisational resilience in an increasingly unpredictable environment.
Our Research Themes
The Foundation undertakes independent research to address the key forces driving workforce transformation and the future of HR.
AI-Mediated Organisations
Investigating how organisations adapt when intelligence transcends human capacity.
Future Operating Models
Creating organisations that can continuously evolve as technology progresses.
Workforce Transformation
Examining changes in jobs, skills, careers, and workforce planning in the AI era.
Leadership & Decision Governance
Understanding how accountability, authority, and judgement transform alongside artificial intelligence.
Capability & Productivity
Exploring how organisations can build sustainable capabilities rather than simply adopting technology.
Society 2035
Analyzing the broader implications of AI on employment, education, accessibility, inclusion, and public policy.
Our Approach
The HR2035 Foundation merges evidence-based research with practical organisational insights. Our contributions include:
Original research reports, executive briefings, articles and thought leadership, future workforce analysis, AI-mediated organisation research, collaborations with universities, policy discussion papers, and opportunities for public speaking and education.
Working Backwards from 2035
Our methodology begins with a straightforward question:
If we understand what successful organisations will require by 2035, what should they start developing today?
By projecting into the future and working backwards, organisations can pinpoint the decisions, investments, and organisational capabilities that will be necessary long before disruptions necessitate change.
Part of the AI-Mediated Foundation
The HR2035 Foundation is an initiative of the AI-Mediated Foundation (AIM). Together, we confront a central question:
What occurs when intelligence is no longer solely human? While the AI-Mediated Foundation zeroes in on the transformation of organisations in the AI era, the HR2035 Foundation delves deeper, evaluating the long-term implications for work, leadership, business, and society.
